Have a social strategy for your Kamloops business?
If you said no, we can help with that.
If you answered yes, we could also help with that.
Who are we? Oh hey, we’re Pepper! An incredible (and clearly unbiased, as well as humble) group of women who help Kamloops businesses grow with our creative, marketing, and branding efforts.
And wouldn’t you know, that includes social media strategy. We know, you never would have guessed.
Just for the record, simply posting on social media doesn’t mean you have a strategy.
If you don’t have a plan, not even a pla— (a la Phoebe Buffay), it’s time to tag us in.
You see the state of our digital world these days. It’s crowded and oversaturated with businesses promising the same thing to potential customers. Add in how quickly social media changes, and you have a wild, wild west situation.
TLDR, you can’t afford to wing it and blindly post, or hop on trends that don’t align with you or your audience. That won’t make you stand out; ultimately, that’s what you want to accomplish.
In this blog, we’re spilling the social strategy tea, including what we’ve learned along the way—the cute and not-so-cute things.

Our Humble Beginnings
Back when we started, we had to hike to the office uphill both ways in the snow…
Hey, cmon, we’re not that old.
The truth is, we started because our founder, Stacey, saw an opportunity to help photographers with their marketing. Truly a humble beginning, charging clients $350/month (shakes fist at inflation), wearing all of the hats, being scrappy, and learning hella fast.
TBH, those times shaped who we were, set a strong foundation for our business, and bonded us with our clients.
That strong foundation allowed us to grow our (once small) marketing agency, align our strategy, and show up stronger for our clients.
From there, we were able to:
- Offer our multiple marketing services to a variety of businesses, not just photographers.
- Refine our process from just posting beautiful images to creating and following a strong strategy.
- Build our team by bringing on Brittany as our COO to lead operations and client accounts, and Shelbie as our CMO to drive sales and hit growth targets—so we can scale our services without losing the magic that makes Pepper Pepper (and keeps clients coming back and telling their friends) all alongside an incredible group of talented women who make it all happen.
What we’ve learned is that life moves pretty fast, and things are constantly changing. If you can’t adapt and grow, it’ll be tough to be successful.

What We’ve Learned the Hard Way
- To scale your business, you need systems, not just vibes. Though the vibes are immaculate here, NGL.
- You don’t have to niche down to provide a quality service.
- Investing in quality content always beats cutting corners for quick likes.
- Storytelling will always outperform selling because connection is so forking key to selling.

Social Media Trends We’ve Seen
We’ve lived to tell the tale.
Remember when you were invited to Facebook? What about when you downloaded Instagram for the first time?
How social media apps started is not how they’re going these days.
Seriously, just look at the “on this day” throwbacks they share with you. The cringey statues and sepia-toned pictures your past self posted. They’re truly so cruel for this…
Sorry if that ignited a trauma response, but we had to prove a point.
We’ve watched social media grow up, from pretty and aesthetic grids to TikTok trends and dance moves.
We’ve seen how brands that don’t embrace a human element and authentic nature aren’t faring so well.
We’ve witnessed how vanity metrics are no longer the focus when it comes to analytics. Remember when likes were absolutely everything? Psst, these analytics help inform what you should focus your strategy on, so you can’t ignore the numbers.
We’ve seen how video content has become king and how including it in your social strategy increases your reach.

Evolve or Get Left Behind
Guess what? The growth of social media isn’t slowing down. In fact, we’d argue that it’s speeding up.
In a decade or even a year from now, there will be more knowledge and changes to adapt to.
You’ve gotta keep up, pay attention, and learn how to change with it.
Because your competitors definitely do the above.
And if they’re not, you can beat out the competition.
Social media isn’t the same as it once was, so we shouldn’t treat it as such.

The Strategy Behind Our Social Strategy
Posting random pics at random times with equally random captions? That’s just noise.
With a strong strategy, you can make a digital impact.
Today’s consumers are smarter, faster, and have higher expectations.
The lack of energy used for digital marketing when social media first came on the scene will absolutely not fly today.
We can’t speak for other Kamloops marketing agencies, but when you hire Pepper, your social strategy is built from:
- Complete audits that showcase where you’re winning and where you’re leaving money on the table.
- Competitor research to see what they do well and what they don’t—we’re playing chess, not checkers, folks.
- Alignment with your actual goals because just gaining more followers won’t do a heck of a lot for your brand.
- Constant revisions based on analytics. Remember how we said social media is constantly changing, so you need to as well? Good, glad you’re paying attention.

What’s Missing From Most Social Strategy Packages
- Most social media packages are all about a lot of content, but without any direction (aka strategy)
- When you have too much content, that means you’re wasting resources, time, and money—yours and your customers’
What Pepper Does Differently

- How do you align content to match business goals?
- What’s your process for audits and strategy?
- How do you measure success?
- Can you show examples of client growth?
Hint: If they can’t answer these, run…?
